Wow so disappoionted after reading all these good reviews. This movie is just meh. There is almost no tension during most of the movie, the characters are flat and stock, the main players in the story get almost no screen time and no development at all, while we sinstead focus on jeremy renner, who seems to have preicsely one facial expression. The exposition of the mystery is clumsy to say the least; it's probably more accurate to say there is no exposition of mystery - they just tell you what happened. The final scenes are RIDICULOUS. The acting is fine, but no better. The directing is workman. The dialogue is worthy of a fair TV police procedural. There is nothing new or interesting here, except hiring Native Americans to play Native Americans. Snow is the main character and seems to have a wider range of expression than the lead male. Skip it and watch Good Time instead.

Great Movie! Awesome country! The action extremely well done and realistic. I would have given it 5 stars, but being a retired Border Patrol Agent I could not. I wanted to yell out "Back Track Her!" Back tracking her would have told the story, but then the movie would have been about 20 minutes long. Non the less, this is an extremely realistic movie with shooting scenes the mirror real life better than any movie I have ever seen and I served as a Firearms Instructor for 15 of my 33 years and also a Weapon, ammunition, holster and target spec writer for my agency.

I love Jeremy Renner, he's an amazing actor, They could have picked a better lead actress though.

Dark, moving, thought provoking, immersive. Hard to watch at times, hard to look away at times. The Tomatometer never lies. If you are empathetic, this will leave a scar.

  • Good Cinematography, Boring Plot

I rented this movie after it got rave reviews, excited for a good suspense film which is right up my alley but I was highly disappointed - the cinamtography is great and I think the representation of how we mistreat Native Americans in this country is powerful. With that said, the actual plot itself left much to be desired. No real twists or surprises, no real character development - I kept expecting somehting exciting to happen and it never did.
