11-year-old orphan, Félicie (Elle Fanning) has one dream – to go to Paris and become a dancer. Her best friend Victor (Nat Wolff) an imaginative, but exhausting boy with a passion for creating has a dream of his own, to become a famous inventor. In a leap of faith, Victor and Félicie leave their orphanage in pursuit of their passions. But – there’s a catch, Félicie must pretend to be the child of a wealthy family in order to gain admittance to the prestigious and competitive Opera Ballet School in Paris. And with no professional dance training, she quickly learns that talent alone is not enough to overcome the ruthless, conniving attitudes of her fellow classmates, led by the devious Camille Le Haut (Maddie Ziegler). Determined to succeed, Félicie finds her mentor in the tough and mysterious school custodian, Odette (Carly Rae Jepsen) who, along with Victor’s encouraging friendship, help her reach for the stars.

This is the most BORING movie of all time. If u are a 4-6 year old girl, you might like it, but I can’t guarantee it. The story is terrible. The script is terrible. To me, this movie is more cheesy than Batman and Robin. Would pick Batman and Robin over this any day. Buying this movie is like flushing money down the toilet. If u like good movies, then plz just ignore this movie and watch a good kids movie, like The Incredibles.

My two girls age 9 and 4 both really enjoy this movie. They’ve watched it over and over since we bought it. It’s an inspiring, fun movie that shows young girls that if they work hard at something they love, they can aspire to reach that dream.
  • Not really.

I honestly don't know why everyone thought this was so good. It has absolutely no plot. There is no thesis, and none of the characters really have good motivations. Second, the conflict is cheep and just isn't believable- and conflict is pretty much the main thing that makes a story interesting to begin with. And, finally, this movie just sort of feels like an insult: A poor girl who has always dreamed of dancing, but has never had a single bit of training- AND THEN SHE JUST, WHAT, BECOMES A SKILLED DANCER EQUAL TO THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN DOING IT ALL THERE LIVES, AND ALL IN TWO WEEKS?!?!? I'm sorry, but after looking forward to this movie, I am largely disappointed, and this is not the kind of movie you should show your daughter if you want her to "follow her dreams," because ultimately, your dreams don't just waltz through the door twelve days after you decide to run away and live them.
