What if, in the wake of more than a decade of devastating weather events, we finally found a way to control Mother Nature and the destruction her tirades entail? When catastrophic climate change endangers Earth’s very survival, world governments unite and create Project Dutch Boy: a global net of satellites surrounding the planet that are armed with geo-engineering technologies designed to stave off the natural disasters. After successfully protecting the planet for two years, something is starting to go wrong. Two estranged brothers (Gerard Butler, Jim Sturgess) are tasked with solving the program’s malfunction before a worldwide geostorm can engulf the planet.

The whole movie was just a big let down. Wanted to see me things like twister, but the scenes were terrible and the chi was aweful.

I'm sure the average U.S. citizen (ignorant to the true laws of physics and the way things really happen in the world) would love this "exciting" movie but it made me physically ill. Let me sum up just a few REDICULOUS scenes (in random order) of the movie and you decide. A multi-million dollar shuttle launch is initiated to send ONE (1) man to the space station. They even make a point of showing the entire shuttle bay full of empty seats. There is a scene where a warm ocean is instantaneously frozen SOLID along with hundreds of people at the beach. If you believe in a God then you know that only God could pull off that magic feat. This same thing happend in an earlier scene where a middle eastern village was frozen in the center of a desert and a UN soldier unintentionally breaks off the arm of one of the frozen villagers. In another scene of total destruction, people, cars, everything is struck by CONTINUOUS lightning strikes without end. After a cloud begins to receive a static charge (either positive or negative) it discharges to or from the Earth when its voltage reaches a value sufficient to create an arch that can span the distance between the cloud and the Earth. I think thats correct but you get the idea I hope. What I'm trying to say is the cloud isn't a "lightning machine gun". It has to recharge after it discharges back to a zero level and that takes time. Perhaps I'm biased in my opinion because as a child my best friend watched a movie where a boy of our age took a bed sheet and jumped off the roof of his home only to drift slowly to the ground below. With this thought in mind my friend duplicated the scene up to the point where the child floated gently to the ground, for in my friends case he plummeted at great speed and struck the ground causing multiple fractures and a ruptured spleen which nearly killed him. I'm asking why you can't produce a movie using real physics and true to life rules? It could still be very exciting you might even learn something too.

Excellent for adults there is a script so listening and thinking is required. Reminds me of Poseidon adventure or towering inferno.
  • Won’t catch anyone by storm but it was legit!

So Geostorm was not Oscar worthy but for what it is worth it was exciting in the cliche disaster movie sense!
