Description

In Sony Pictures Animation's The Star, a small but brave donkey named Bo yearns for a life beyond his daily grind at the village mill. One day he finds the courage to break free, and finally goes on the adventure of his dreams. On his journey, he teams up with Ruth, a lovable sheep who has lost her flock and Dave, a dove with lofty aspirations. Along with three wisecracking camels and some eccentric stable animals, Bo and his new friends follow the Star and become accidental heroes in the greatest story ever told – the first Christmas.

Honestly it was! I sat down to watch it with my little brother and found it’s animation gorgeous, it’s music incredible and the story both appropriate for younger audiences, yet stayed true to the story of the Lords birth!

Very wholesome, very funny, and emotionally moving. The only negative reviews here are biased to atheism having nothing to do with the quality of the movie itself. Worth the purchase hands down!!!

Was pretty good. Really cute. I like a good Christian movie.

The kids wanted to see it so I sat through it. I have no problem with the birth of Jesus as an animated film. But AS a film, it was downright. For one thing, almost every joke didn't land. Which is really odd, but the timing and silences mostly had my children (suckers of slapstick) sitting there passively. The "King of the Shoes" joke was … creepy. This is a movie about the birth of Jesus and the words Jew or Jewish don't appear even once. In fact, they are assiduously avoided. Why? It's creepy. None of the voices "matched" the characters, and the basic story arc was β€” non-existent. The visuals were poorly imaged too. This was Judea. The Romans occupied it. The colors, architecture, and mood are all a designers playground. Instead it looked like the Road Runner and Wylie E. Coyote met up with some very, very unfunny characters (except the one scene with the singing dove, which was a moment). Really. Don't. Just … go rent almost any Pixar movie instead. And for those looking to enjoy religious education with their kids … I hear you. But this won't help.

This is actually a pretty good movie. They kind of gloss over the part where God rapes a twelve year old girl, but other than that it's really cute. The voice acting and animation is well done, and given the dark subject matter the writers manage the difficult task of keeping the story light and kid friendly.
