A merciless cowboy sets out on a dangerous journey across the frontier, determined to do whatever it takes to avenge his longtime partner’s brutal murder in this thrilling, action-packed western.
I was looking for a good western...unfortunately this one didn’t live up to expectations...just wasn’t it...
One of the finest modern westerns I have seen, and gorgeously photographed on real Kodak film. This is art, and Bill Pullman, never one of my favorites, can act!
One of the greatest movies I've ever seen. Bill Pullman is amazing!

Bill Pullman was exceptional!
he deserves an Oscar (probably too white for that now)....but I was rivited and his part in this, which was so beleivable, and came off so real that you could feel his pain. Life was hard in the late 1800's, but this movie showed how good people have guts and hang in there even when everyone wants you dead. STELLAR cast and awesome directing made this my favorite movie of the year by far!
Strange and Convoluted
Lefty Brown is not a likeable character; inept and self absorbed he never really achieves a transformation which makes him worthy of redemption. I am a big fan of Bill Pullman, but this was hard to watch. Lefty was a mumbling and stumbling poor wretch surrounded by a myriad of one dimensional predictable old west type bad guys. Bill Pullman's acting talent could not overcome this barely fleshed out script. Rent do not buy so as not to regret the $ or time spent dedicated to watching this drivel.
Really great movie!
Slow and boring
Too much about this makes it mediocre, half baked and not worth spending your time or money on.

Not good. Should not be a 4 Star.

Is it my imagination or are westerns getting worse and worse? This one is rife with bad acting, Wimpy tough guys and bad shots. Avoid at all costs
I loved this. It's a far departure from the cowboy screen genre's of today. I actually know a guy that looks, walks, talks and thinks just like Lefty. What a trip. After he passed away we made him our one and only mayor post mortem and a huge wooden statue of him and placed it in the town square. His name was Virgil and he still lives in spirit in the foothills in a little town in the foothills of the Washington Cascades. This is a good ol western with plenty of diabolical intrigue, shoot outs and political frames and double crossing back stabbings to keep you interested.
