Jake Gyllenhaal reteams with PRISONERS director Denis Villeneuve in this sexy and mind bending thriller. Adam Bell is a glum professor who has grown disinterested by his ordinary life. When Adam discovers a man who appears to be his double, the identical men meet and their lives become bizarrely and hauntingly intertwined. Gyllenhaal is transfixing playing both roles, journeying through a world both familiar and strange. The film’s final and unnerving image will not be soon forgotten by audiences. In the end, only one man can survive.

  • Slow, confusing, and brilliant

Tense, mysterious, and disturbing. It kind of feels similar to a film like Lost Highway. I guess it probably fits the psychological thriller genre. It's probably not for everyone, but if you're into weird, dark, psychological thrillers then I'd highly reccomend it.
  • Modern Film Noir Must See

This is truly a soon to be Film Noir Classic. Jake Gyllenhaal is amazing as a frumpy, boring ho-hum professor...or is he? This is a thinking persons movie. The deliberate use of depressing colors are cold and empty. The soundtrack is a calculated maelstrom of cerebral tripping.
  • i might watch it again... but idk

"Enemy" is what might happen if someone let Terrence Malick make a "Twilight Zone" episode, with a quick rewrite by David Cronenberg.' that is a quote from San Francisco Chronical's Peter Hartlaub and after watching it i kind of wish that this movie had been directed by Malick and had Cronenberg come up with the ending because at least it would have been more visually pleasing and had better music. still worth watching if you have the luxury of being at home on your couch instead of in a theater.
  • What the heck is this?

What a pile of pseudo artistic self-indugent garbage. Even for .99 cents, don't waste your time or money. It's one of those silly films that is tediously drawn out with LOTS of silence and turtle slow meandering as you try to figure out what the heck is happening. Here's a hint, you'll never know or care.

This is a great movie . You will probably won't understand anything after first watch (that's why so many dumb stupid 1 star reviews) but rewatch it and if you still don't get it research some explanations online than you will want to watch again !

Predictable. Predictable. Boring. Boring. Awful. Awful. I normally like Jake's acting, but not in this waste of time movie. Jake times 2 add up to 0.

  • One of the best of 2014

This movie was made be the same director who made the 2013 movie prisoners. This movie is not for your average movie fan. This movie requires multiple viewings. This movie has superb acting great directing and overall is a great movie. Would love to get into more detail but it would spoil the movie.

Thrilling, smart, and a bit unexpected, this is a flick that will leave you speechless if you're looking for a simple plot, and haunted if looking for a great-complex plot
