The drama series, based on the award-winning, best-selling novel by Margaret Atwood, is the story of life in the dystopia of Gilead, a totalitarian society in what was formerly part of the United States. Facing environmental disasters and a plunging birthrate, Gilead is ruled by a twisted fundamentalism regime that treats women as property of the state. As one of the few remaining fertile women, Offred (Elisabeth Moss) is a Handmaid in the Commander’s household, one of the caste of women forced into sexual servitude as a last desperate attempt to repopulate a devastated world. In this terrifying society where one wrong word could end her life, Offred navigates between Commanders, their cruel Wives, domestic Marthas, and her fellow Handmaids -- where anyone could be a spy for Gilead -- all with one goal: to survive and find the daughter that was taken from her.

  • Fantastic series

    By Joshua McShane
The tension in this series is gut-wrenching. Keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout. The design and casting are top notch, and Elisabeth Moss's performance is incredible. Looking forward to season 2!
  • It’s not for everyone

    By Smith cover
Yes it is very well done. Yes the acting is fine. Yes the cinematography is great and the writer was superb. No it’s not fun. Not easy viewing. Sorry but it’s so intense and depressing that I had to watch every episode in bits and pieces. Be warned. This is definitely different and maybe not your choice for an evening of light entertainment. A really rough go. Especially considering our new political climate.

  • Boring

Slow and boring drama about what Im not even sure of. All I could tell you is that the maids are forced into having sex with the men who employ them while the kinky wife watches. Then bare children. Great T.V. I tell you!
  • Horrible show

It’s boring and unrealistic unless you’re a liberal who believes the lies that group of people keep telling you.
