  • Fixer Upper, it’s not.

The Ford brother-sister duo offers a twist on home renovations, but the twist isn’t unique enough to merit great ratings. Leanne is a bubbly designer that seems oblivious to client budgets and how to stick with them. Also, her refusal to use any color beyond white or black is so limiting; every house ends up looking overly sterile, like a rental apartment. Her brother Steve seems like a sweet guy (albeit slightly glazed over, as if he’s always stoned) and he has a lot of talent. Together, they are a lackluster pair, relying on sibling tropes and overplayed roles (pushy little sister, indulgent big brother). You can’t help but compare this to Fixer Upper, and it falls short in too many ways to make this a winning show.
