From Tom Hanks, Steven Spielberg and Gary Goetzman--the producers of the Emmy(R) and Golden Globe(R)-winning 2001 HBO miniseries 'Band of Brothers'(R)--comes this epic 10-part miniseries that tells the true stories of three Marines fighting in the brutal Pacific theater during WWII. Focusing on the intertwined odyssey of Robert Leckie (James Badge Dale), Eugene Sledge (Joe Mazzello) and John Basilone (Jon Seda), 'The Pacific' follows these heroic men and their brothers-in-arms through the first battle on Guadalcanal in 1942, into the rain forests of Cape Gloucester and strongholds of Peleliu, across the bloody sands of Iwo Jima and Okinawa and, finally, to their triumphant but uneasy return home.

This is even better than Band of Brothers. A great generation, that along with us today, would not stand for the disrespect that is happeing to our flag right now. Apple periordically puts it on sale - thanks Apple.

The Pacific personifies the war with Japan better than any other representation. The brutality, the loss, and the people. It shows the effect of war on people, it's a a show that's not meant to be watched for watching it sake. It's meant to be experienced, to be a reminder, a lesson of sorts.
  • Love our Marines!

Could not ask for a better depiction of what those men went through. I am so thankful for the makers of this film that spent the time and money to show us what it was like back then.

Hands down the greatest miniseries ever created behind Band of Brothers. Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks left no stone unturned in their follow-up to the hugely successful Band of Brothers. It's as engrossing as its predecessor, but why wouldn't it be? It's nothing shy of flawless. It's keeps you glued to the TV, computer or phone screen just as Band of Brothers does. "The Pacific" is a MUST own, especially for WWII buffs, but who everyone else as well. "Band of Brothers"and "The Pacific" are hands down the greatest miniseries tandem ever created.
  • Look at the “Pacific"

If you’re gonna compare this to Band of Brothers it’s not gonna be a fun experience. The miniseries is brutal. It sometime comes off like it’s just trying to make you cringe at some of the gruesome scenes. The sad thing is, it probably was like everything was portrayed in the show. Sometimes it tries to hard to show you character development and friendship, and it all comes off really forced. It centers around three marines, and shows their terrifying fall from grace. Most notable is Eugene Sledge’s. There are three standout episodes that feel like they have the realism of "Saving Private Ryan” All of the “Peleliu" episodes and “Okinawa”.
