So...the animation and music is spectacular. As good as any adventure movie. I take a little exception that the opening music doesn’t convey that it’s an adventure series (and subsequently isn’t used otherwise-which other anime do). Reki Kawahara’s plotting is inconsistent as well and there’s really no arc for the deuteragonists. However, it’s fun seeing the character’s take to living in a virtual world, including a detective story. Part of this is due to the fact that the original light novel was written for a contest and needed to start/end quickly (at least in the author’s mind). It also began in media res and ep 1 as written was originally a flashback, plus there’s a lot of tell, not show. Episodes 2 through 7 were originally side stories as well. The reveal for Heathcliff was very...incongruous...only a few clues...1 actually. SAO Abridges does a better job of seeding the reveal (if you’ve never seen SAO). That’s my GM/amateur writer/critic coming out though. I’m going to say straight up that none of that prevented me from enjoying the first half of season 1. Asuna kicks butt and doesn’t take names. This is a fun and beautifully animated show. Take it for what is: a couple days of entertainment where you can just enjoy a TV show.

I like it. No, I don’t dislike it, I love it!😻 I can’t understand why GGO and the SAO movie or a no skill aren’t on here too though.

No point in wasting $10 if it's not in the original Japanese.

Okay, I know that this Anime, just like the Manga & its Creator(s), may Seem Crappy. But as a Psychologist who Focuses on what people would usually Ignore, I found Potential in the Hardwear (The NerveGear in Particular) and want to know More about it. So where is the rest of the English Dubbed Material(s)? OR Should I go to some Pirate Site?

This show is AMAZING! I highly recommend it to anyone into Anime. This show is the one that got me INTO Anime! I just wish that there was a subbed version here, because I went through Kirito's life subbed, as the original voice acting is MUCH better. So I do recommend using other websites like Netflix to watch the original. Other than that, this show is amazing!

This is an amazing anime! I first watched it on Netflix in Japanese with English subs and was enthralled! While watching it now in my own native language is great, the performance quality and voices are just not the same, so it lacks that little something extra for me. Because of this it lost a star. On top of the relatively High Price for a single season not having the simple options, which in the most common media type generally come standard, of language and subs makes my rating of it generous and increases my leeriness of purchasing digital content versus buying hard copies. Not to mention the lack of any extras or special features.
