  • spoiler free reviews of each episode below. Love this show but 8x01's price is obscene

Reviews for each episode without spoilers below: 😡✅"Deep Breath" is necessary for continuity. Lower the price and I'll buy it.Bought most of the season. I want "Deep Breath". I will never waste that much money on a single episode, especially when it is $1.99/$2.99 on Amazon, and streams free with Amazon Prime. ❌"Into the Dalek" did not ever manage to hold my attention ❌"Robots of Sherwood" is a jarring and confused episode. The characters in Robin Hood stories are known by nearly everyone, so my commennts do not have any spoilers. This episode is a truly laugh out loud funny during the 3/5s of the scenes spent with the Doctor, Clara and Robin Hood. The actor playing Robin is quite funny and talented and his performance is as perfect. The episode is absolute rubbish when it cuts to the other 2/5ths showing pesants being executed on screen by other humans while they and the unnamed peasant women cry and scream and beg for mercy. The identity of the peasant woman is painfully obvious. It's as though two different expensive episodes weren't long enough to stand alone, so two episodes were crammed together. The result is a funny lighthearted 30 minute Robin Hood adventure interspliced with a violent 20 minute episodes that adds nothing to the rest of the story. Amazon Prime states that one scene was so gruesome that the BBC made them cut it. The BBC should have made them cut all the gruesome parts as they were were often caused by humans and not the robots in the title and did nothind to add to the plot. In fact, since the identity of the unnamed peasant woman is so obvious I hadn't realized her name had not been said until after the second viewing, as smarter writer would have portrayed her character as Robin's equal. Instead of having her be a damsel in distress, she should have been seen running a parallel clever covert attempt to stop the Sheriff of Nottingham just as Robin and the Merry Men were in the process of doing before Robin met Clara and The Doctor.. Her character is useless and her scenes are artless and violent. As it stands the episode is too poorly made for adults and far too violent for children. The level of plausible human-on-human violence is remarkable as this is the most violent episode of the revived series and the writer Mark Gatiss has constantly complained about the revival's drift away from being a program meant for children that should air in the afternoon. As iTunes wont let me edit out the screaming and killing and have a 30 minute comedy, its a no buy. ✅"Listen" one of the best of the series. Purchased. ✅"Time Heist" is fun and clever. Purchased. ✅"The Caretaker" is hillarious. Many viewers in the UK knew how funny Peter Capaldi is. This episode showa Jenna Coleman's comedic timing is flawless as well. Purchased ❌"Kill the Moon" I can't saw why it's the most stupid thing I've ever seen without spoiling it. It is just awful. Not Purchased. ✅"Mummy on the Orient Express" is wonderful fun. Purchased. ✅"Flatline" This is Jenna Coleman's episode and has her playing the Doctor while Peter Capaldi is her straightman. JC'a comedic timing is allowed to shine. Purchased ❌"In the Forest of the Night" manages to be worse than "Kill the Moon." ✅"Dark Water" and ✅"Death in Heaven" are required viewing for continuity. I have read that people did not like this two parter and felt ie was underwhelming, butI thoughht they were both excellent. I really cannot talk about the plot without giving away spoilers. I purchased both and have seen them repeatedly. If "Deep Breath" were the same price Amazon charges, I'd give the season 5 stars.

  • The Best Dr Yet

    By Mr. Loiter
Impressed me more than Tennant or Smith’s first seasons. A+ The only boring episode was the Moon one, but the rest were good. Even the much maligned Robin Hood episode which was solid silly fun. Listen and the Train episode are all time classics.
  • Worst Doctor of the New Series

    By Kaizoku0506
I was really excited when I first heard that Peter Capaldi would be taking over the role of The Doctor from Matt Smith. While Matt Smith was a pleasant surprise, Peter Capaldi has been a longtime favorite. Unfortunately, this season has failed to live up to its potential. Some of this may be Capaldi’s desire to make The Doctor more “alien”, but a good portion of the blame must fall on the writers. This season had some of the worst plot lines I have seen in years. The plot seemed disjointed in places - our first introduction to Peter Capaldi as The Doctor leaves the viewer wondering if there was another Prequel episode somewhere that would fill in some of the gaps. While there is always SOMETHING of a gap between seasons, this is by far the worst I have ever seen. Much of this seasons seems like they were either running short and started grabbing 10-second ideas to fill time, or else they had a lot of 10-second ideas and weren’t patient enough to write them into full episodes. I can only hope that Season 9 brings some improvement.

  • Shut up!

This was a great series. I started watching on Netflix and got caught up before series 8. Capaldi and Coleman are in my opinion the new Ten and Noble. It may take some getting used to the new relationship and Scottish accent, but don't let those get to you, this series is fun, emotional, exciting, funny, and so on. Capaldi IS the doctor, and you'll love it all. My favorite episodes were Listen, Mummy on the Orient Express, Flatline, and Last Christmas. Moffat will make you crazy, but you'll have fun watching.
  • not even a word to describe how i feel

    By Melody Pond (or Williams)
for the doctor I feel disappointed. he seems unhappy and moody. I loved capaldi in the fires of pompeii and I know he's a great actor. I hated the finale. the whole making-the-master-a-girl thing was just plain awkward. i cant believe that they would kill off Osgood. she was my favorite character. as for Clara I can't connect with her and that's the point of the companions isn't it? they represent us. they're our tie to the Tardis. she's also shallow. as soon as the doctor isn't hot anymore, what does she do? thats right, she goes and gets a boyfriend! I miss 11 and Amy and Rory. she was good in the Snowmen and Asylum of The Daleks but this Clara is unreachable. it makes me sad because I honestly love Doctor Who. people will get mad at me for saying this but its my true feelings.

the reason everything is expensive is because these episode are as long as full movies. what do you expect? I throughly enjoyed this season (one of my favorites) and I can't wait until season nine
